Residential, Commercial, and Custom Landscaping Services in Laval
Laval is its own market. The lots are bigger, the driveways are longer, and the soil under most of the city is dense Champlain Sea clay — which expands when it freezes and shrinks when it dries. Driveways that look fine in their first winter often crack or heave by their third because the contractor never accounted for what's underneath. We've installed pavé-uni driveways across Laval since 2011 from our Boul Des Laurentides showroom, and every one of them starts with what's below the stones, not above them.
Give your property a fresh new look with Groupe Zamco’s professional landscaping services in Laval. With over 20 years of experience, we specialize in residential landscaping, commercial landscaping, garden landscaping, lawn care, and custom designs that transform outdoor spaces into something truly special. Our goal is to create landscapes that are not only beautiful but also functional and long-lasting.
Whether you need a complete garden redesign, professional lawn care, or tailored landscaping for your home or business, our skilled team brings creativity, precision, and attention to detail to every project. At Groupe Zamco, we customize every service to match your style and needs—delivering outdoor spaces that enhance curb appeal, increase property value, and stand the test of time.

Built for Laval's neighbourhoods
Driveway design changes from one Laval sector to the next. Here's what we adjust based on where you are:
Sainte-Dorothée and Laval-sur-le-Lac
Long approach driveways, often 50 to 80 feet, frequently with a turnaround or secondary parking pad. Premium lots, premium expectations — most projects we do here use Techo-Bloc Blu Grande or Industria large-format slabs in modern greys with stainless inlay strips.
Chomedey and Laval-Ouest
Established mid-century neighbourhoods with mature trees and wider boulevard setbacks. Tree roots are the real engineering problem — sub-base prep here means root pruning, geotextile barriers, and sometimes a secondary slope correction so future root growth doesn't lift the surface.
Vimont, Auteuil, and Duvernay
Newer construction, post-1990, where the lots were graded for asphalt and the soil compaction is often inconsistent. Almost every Vimont project we take on starts with a sub-base rebuild — there's no point laying premium pavers over a base that was barely engineered for the original tarmac.
Fabreville and Sainte-Rose
Family neighbourhoods with two-car driveways and a strong preference for traditional pavé-uni patterns — Villagio, Borealis, and Permacon Mondrino are our most-installed product lines here. We often pair the driveway with a coordinated front walkway in the same colour family.

Why Laval clay soils change the build
Most of Laval sits on heavy clay deposited by the ancient Champlain Sea. Clay does three things that loose soils don't:
-
It expands when it absorbs water — sometimes by 8 to 12% of its volume.
-
It contracts when it dries, leaving voids under your driveway.
-
It freezes hard and lifts everything above it during deep cold snaps.
If a contractor builds a Laval driveway with a 4-inch sub-base, you'll see frost heave in year one and visible cracking by year three. Our minimum sub-base for any Laval driveway is 8 inches of compacted 0–3/4" crushed stone over a non-woven geotextile membrane, with a secondary 2-inch screed bedding under the pavers themselves. On clay-heavy lots in Auteuil or Sainte-Dorothée, we go to 10 or 12 inches and add a French drain along the high edge. It costs more on day one and saves you a teardown in year five.
Material recommendations for Laval driveways
- Pavé-Uni — our default recommendation
Pavé-uni handles Laval clay better than any other surface. Individual pavers move with the soil instead of fighting it, polymeric sand joints flex through freeze-thaw, and any single damaged stone can be lifted and replaced without disturbing the rest. Our most-installed Laval product lines are Techo-Bloc Villagio (traditional), Borealis (modern square format), Industria (large format contemporary), and Permacon Mondrino.
- Stamped concrete — for the right lot
Stamped concrete works in Laval but only on lots with sandy or well-drained soil — typically along the rivière des Prairies or in newer post-2005 developments where the developer brought in engineered fill. We don't recommend it for Vimont, Auteuil, or any clay-heavy lot.
- Asphalt
Reasonable budget choice for long suburban driveways. We install two-lift hot mix on a properly compacted sub-base, with an expected service life of 18 to 22 years in Laval. Sealing every 3 to 5 years extends that meaningfully.
